She has extensive experience working with those who struggle with various addictions or other compulsive behaviors and has a passion for seeing people thrive in recovery. She works with individuals, couples, and has a passion for interpersonal therapy groups. I believe that group is a unique experience to learn more about who you are and connect with others who may be quite different from you.
Kat strongly believes that you should feel comfortable with the therapist you choose and hopeful about the therapy. Kat draws on theoretical approaches that resonate and have been successful in her work. These include psychodynamic, attachment, family of origin, family systems, experiential, and mindfulness. Kat believes the therapeutic approach is a very collaborative one and invites you to be an active member of it.
Kat is professionally affiliated with Houston Group Psychotherapy Society (HGPS) and has served on the Institute Planning Committee. She is also a member of the National Association of Social Workers. She is connected with the Graduate College of Social Work Alumni and has returned to her college to present for incoming social workers.
Kat is a wife and a mom to two little boys and when she’s not in the office, you can find her with a cup of coffee, a good book, or a crochet project.
